Activate your dog’s well-being with Come-pooch-a

Inspired by kombucha, Come-pooch-a is a new, first-of-its-kind topper that provides digestion support for dogs.

At the same time, it’s a delicious add-in to your dog’s bowl. Savory bone broth adds more of the meaty goodness that dogs crave, but with a touch of tang found in yogurt that adds interest.

Why Come-pooch-a?

Looking for that special something to tempt your canine’s palate? Come-pooch-a is a perfect topper when you need a hand at dinnertime.

Come-pooch-a is a yummy bone broth you can pour onto your dog’s kibble. It’s the perfect solution for:

Picky eaters

Dogs bored with regular food

Decreased appetite due to health issues or stress

Mild tummy upset

Hydration help

Digestive issues

Because it’s tangy and delicious, Come-pooch-a is also a special treat. Thanks to the postbiotics, it also happens to enhance your dog’s well-being.

Postbiotics for dogs: What are they and why do they matter?

Confused about postbiotics? They’re a byproduct of prebiotics and probiotics. What makes postbiotics special is they go right to work in your dog’s system, offering immunity support and enhancing gut health.

Here’s a quick look at how postbiotics work.

Start with the probiotics

Probiotics thrive in the gut and promote a healthy gut ecosystem.

Feed the probiotics with prebiotics

Prebiotics are the main food source of probiotics. They come from dietary fiber found in everyday plant foods, like fruits, veggies and whole grains.

Then you get fermentation, or postbiotics

When the probiotics start feeding on the prebiotics, the end product is fermentation. This fermented product is known as postbiotics.

What makes Come-pooch-a different from other toppers?

Unlike dog food gravy toppers, Come-pooch-a offers natural postbiotics for dogs that bring results.

Gut-heathy fermented food boosts aroma and flavor to tempt picky and stressed dogs to eat their kibble.

Natural postbiotics support your dog’s immune system and overall wellness.

Enhanced gut health lets the body better utilize nutrients.

Other Come-pooch-a benefits

Adds antioxidants for canine well-being

Softens kibble when it’s difficult to eat

Offers hydration help: Add to their water dish to encourage your dog to drink

Easy-close pouch allows multiple servings! Refrigerate and store.

Come-Pooch-A comes in three delicious bone broth flavors:

Chicken

Turkey

Beef

When you want to enhance your dog’s wellness and digestion support, it’s as easy as adding Come-pooch-a to your dog’s dinner bowl.

Let Your Dog Sniff and Explore

People have five or six million scent receptors in their noses, and depending on the breed, have up to 300 million. Your do g's brain has a larger area devoted to its sense of smell. Dogs also have a Jacobson's organ, a patch of sensory cells within the main nasal chamber that detects heavy moisture-borne odor particles. The Jacobson's organ helps dogs detect pheromones and other odors. All this means your dog's sense of smell is at least 10,000 times greater than humans.

Dogs experience the world through their noses. Just as we look around to take in the scenery, our dogs smell all their environment has to offer. Dragging your dog away from an exciting scent, or heeling the entire walk, prevents your dog from genuinely taking in everything around him. Not allowing your dog to sniff also diminishes the mental stimulation a walk provides.

Some dogs seem to be ruled by their noses and think of nothing else while on a scent trail. Proper training may help regain their focus when out on a walk. Consider teaching cues like "Watch me" or "Leave It" to take their minds off the smell and put their attention back on you. Reward short bursts of heeling or loose leash walking with frequent sniffing sessions to help foster good walking behavior.

During the colder months, when you let your dog outside for some fresh air or go on a walk with them in the beautiful snowfall, be sure to:

Dress your dog in a sweater or coat to help keep them warm.

Use paw balms and booties to protect their feet from the cold.

Put dog-friendly ice melts around your stairs, driveway, and sidewalks to help protect you and your dogs from falling.

Keep your dog's fur dry. Limit your winter bathing so their coats retain as many natural oils as possible. When bathing your dogs, use a moisturizing shampoo made specifically for dogs to help prevent dry skin.

Provide high-quality food and clean water. Dogs burn more calories in cold weather to keep themselves warm. Consider feeding your dog more frequently and adding in wet food to help keep them more hydrated.

Walk your dog in the late morning or afternoon when temperatures should be warmer.

Spend time outside playing, especially when the sun is out. Use toys that don't absorb moisture quickly and stay wet after hitting the ground.

Give your dog a space to rest and stay warm after playing outside. Soft bedding, a dog bed, a crate out of cold drafts are all good options.

With today’s pet parents more motivated than ever to seek out pet foods brands that deliver variety of recipes and diversity of ingredients, Fromm Family Foods debuts the latest introduction to the Fromm Gold collection of life stage-specific entrées for dogs. New Fromm Adult Ancient Gold Food for Dogs is available at Dog Food Direct, offering a new option for those feeding a grain-inclusive diet to their dogs.

The recipe, formulated for adult dogs, features a blend of high-quality protein sources together with a selection of wholesome ancient grains including sorghum, buckwheat, spelt, millet, quinoa, whole barley and whole oats. Traditionally, grains considered “ancient” have not been changed over time through cultivation and farming, and are naturally higher in fiber and richer in protein, delivering a number of health benefits to the dog. These complex carbohydrates are packed with energy and can be a good alternative source to more wildly used grains. They also include a broad spectrum of vitamins and minerals and can act as a natural source of prebiotics, promoting healthy intestinal flora and GI regularity.

New Fromm Adult Ancient Gold Food for Dogs provides an alternative grain inclusive option for pets. The recipe is slightly lower in calories than the traditional Fromm Adult Gold and brings nutritional diversity to diets. Through the use of more non-traditional grains, the formulation may also yield a better digestive match to dogs who might suffer from dietary intolerances to more traditionally used grain ingredients.

“Whole grain diets have proven to be an important option to deliver complete nutrition to pets. The energy, fiber and protein they provide contribute to a well-balanced diet,” said Bryan Nieman, brand director for Fromm Family Foods. “With the use of ancient grain ingredients in new Adult Ancient Gold, we’re providing yet another option for pet parents seeking the best digestive match for their pet, or simply another mealtime choice to deliver variety to the dinner bowl.”

New Fromm Adult Ancient Gold Food for Dogs joins our offering of life stage-specific complete and balanced diets within the original Gold, Heartland Gold and Gold Coast entrées for dogs. Each recipe is made in the company’s family-owned manufacturing facility in Wisconsin through a meticulous manufacturing process.

Fromm Family Foods is a fifth-generation family business steadfastly committed to continuous innovation and production of the finest pet foods available. Dedicated to neighborhood pet retailers since the beginning, Fromm recipes, including the new Adult Ancient Gold Food for Dogs can be found at select specialty stores nationwide beginning this Fall.

Training a new puppy can be difficult, especially when they want to be all up in your space all the time. However, your sleep is just as important as theirs, even if your pup doesn't recognize it. If you want your dog to start sleeping in a dog bed instead of in your bed, here are some tips to help you make that happen.

Choose the Right Style of Bed

Choosing a bed is the easiest part of training your dog. Watch the way that your dog sleeps. Are they one that curls up tightly into a ball, or do they sprawl out in their sleep? Then, choose your dog bed accordingly.

If they prefer to curl up tightly, you will want to purchase a bed that has walls for them to curl up against and enough space for them to do this. The walled bed will help them to feel safe, and help you not to trip over them.

If they sprawl, you will need to buy a larger bed than you might think you need for a dog their size. The bigger bed will give your dog space to stretch out while still keeping paws out of the walkway.

If your dog sleeps every which way, try one that offers walls on one side but open space on the other edges.

Put It Near Your Bed

Dogs, no matter how big or small, are pack animals - even when they have no pack of dogs to play with them. That means you are their family, and they are going to want to sleep near you. By putting their new bed near yours and showing them that that's where they need to be, you'll have a much better success rate when it comes to getting them to sleep there.

Create a Safe Area

Dogs usually sleep in dens in the wild, and making them a space of their own helps them to understand that space is for resting and sleeping. You can do this using a crate and a blanket, or just a crate to make them feel safe and sound.

When using a crate, try to avoid using the crate as a punishment space. If you use the crate for punishment, your dog is much less likely to willingly go to bed because the puppy may associate the crate area with punishment.

Train to A Command

Now that you've selected and positioned your dog's bed and created a safe space for your puppy, you can train your dog to go to bed with a command. Training a bedtime word command may take time, but it will be worth it in the long run. Teach your puppy the bedtime word and practice walking the pup up to the dog bed, and allow them to sniff it and use the command of your choice to go to bed. Continue to do this every time they get sleepy and give them a treat once they get into the bed. If your dog sneaks out of bed at night to hop into bed with you, calmly walking them back to bed should be enough to get them to fall asleep again.

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

Date: April 2019

Duration: 4 hours 1 minutes

Summary:

Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist and bestselling author Dave Barry reads his latest book on how he learned to age gracefully, taking cues from his beloved and highly intelligent dog, Lucy.

Faced with the obstacles and challenges of life after middle age, Dave Barry turns to his best dog, Lucy, to learn how to live his best life. From “Make New Friends” (an unfortunate fail when he can’t overcome his dislike for mankind) to “Don’t Stop Having Fun” (validating his longtime membership in a marching unit that performs in parades—and even Obama’s inauguration), Dave navigates his later years with good humor and grace. Lucy teaches Dave how to live in the present, how to let go of daily grievances, and how to feel good in your own skin. The lessons are drawn from Dave’s routine humiliations and stream-of-consciousness accounts of the absurdities of daily life, which will leave readers heaving with laughter and recognition.

Laugh-out-loud hilarious, whether he’s trying to “Pay Attention to the People You Love” (even when your brain is not listening) or deciding to “Let Go of Your Anger,” Dave Barry’s Lessons From Lucy is a witty and wise guide to joyous living.

Written By: Jan Louch, Lisa Rogak

Narrated By: Cynthia Darlow

Publisher: Recorded Books

Date: May 2016

Duration: 7 hours 4 minutes

Summary:

The memoir of small-town librarian Jan Louch, whose pair of Scottish Fold cats became the mascots of the company Baker & Taylor--and beloved by librarians and readers nationwide. It all started when Jan Louch, assistant librarian at the Douglas County Public Library in Carson Valley, Nevada, and a coworker acquired two Scottish Fold cats to keep mice away from the town's new library. Jan called the cats Baker and Taylor because the names fit the felines' mild temperaments, and because she dealt with the book distribution company on a daily basis. When Jan agreed to let the company photograph the cats for a poster, she couldn't know that they would go on to become the most famous library cats in the world. It was enough for Jan that everyone who visited the library fell in love with the cats. But then the poster became a hit. Children from across the country wrote letters, which Jan answered for Baker and Taylor, and fans traveled from far and wide to see Baker holding court at the circulation desk and Taylor in his unusual sitting-Buddha pose. In this charming memoir, Jan celebrates these wonderful cats and the people--readers, cat-lovers, and many others--that came together around them.

Some cats don't like deep bowls because their sensitive whiskers may rub the sides of a deep, narrow bowl. Deeper bowls may force the cat to put his whole head into the dish too and then they can't see their environment and that can add stress. Shallow, wider bowls may be a batter choice.

Tip 2 - Bowl placement is important. Avoid putting food and water bowls near litter boxes or heavily trafficked areas, remember, many cats prefer to eat alone. Find a quiet place without distractions for your cats to dine, they'll appreciate you for the extra thoughts.

Tip 3 - House cats are not normally binge eaters and it's up to cat owners to control portion sizes. Has your cat been a finicky eater? Feeding your cats three or four very small meals a day may not be as "finicky" and are less inclined to throw up compared to cats that eat larger meals.

Tip 4 - Keep your food bowls clean. Cats have an exceptional sense of smell and stale food bits and oily residuals are appetite suppressants to most cats. Be careful about the soap you use to clean the bowls too, nothing too harsh and be sure to rinse thoroughly.

Tip 5 - Avoid plastic bowls and opt for ceramic or stainless instead. Plastic bowl prices are often great, but they can develop scratches and those collect bacteria and oil and may cause cat acne, which appears in the form of black dots on your cat’s chin.

Shop cat food now!http://www.dogfooddirect.com/DogFoodDirect-com-Blog/It-s-Bulldogs-are-Beautiful-DayIt's Bulldogs are Beautiful Day!
Kind but courageous, friendly but dignified, the Bulldog is a thick-set, low-slung, well-muscled bruiser whose “sourmug” face is the universal symbol of courage and tenacity. These docile, loyal companions adapt well to town or country.

About the Bulldog

You can’t mistake a Bulldog for any other breed. The loose skin of the head, furrowed brow, pushed-in nose, small ears, undershot jaw with hanging chops on either side, and the distinctive rolling gait all practically scream “I’m a Bulldog!” The coat, seen in a variety of colors and patterns, is short, smooth, and glossy. Bulldogs can weigh up to 50 pounds, but that won’t stop them from curling up in your lap, or at least trying to. But don’t mistake their easygoing ways for laziness—Bulldogs enjoy brisk walks and need regular moderate exercise, along with a careful diet, to stay trim. Summer afternoons are best spent in an air-conditioned room as a Bulldog’s short snout can cause labored breathing in hot and humid weather.

These are two of the most common preventable conditions in both canine and human populations. We're all familiar with how too much sitting and too many calories (think treats and poor nutrition choices) often contribute to weight gain. Obesity causes things like sore joints, difficulty breathing, higher cancer risks, canine diabetes, and other diseases, obesity also shortens our companion's lives.

Unfortunately, sedentarism has become the typical lifestyle for many dogs and their people too. What is the opposite of a sedentary lifestyle? Movement! Playing, being outside, engaging and moving. Canine Fitness Month encourages us to develop a healthier lifestyle while bonding with our dogs.

Before beginning an exercise program, check with your veterinarian (and your doctor for you) to be sure you and your dog are healthy enough for exercise. This is an essential step and shouldn't be skipped. While you're at the DVM, ask what kind of diet is best for your dog.

Once you have your veterinarian's okay, it's time to get walking! Walking is an easy first step for most people, and their dogs and the fresh air will do both of you good.

Image: Kathleen Riley Photography

http://www.dogfooddirect.com/DogFoodDirect-com-Blog/Fleas-and-Ticks-Hiding-Lurking-and-Ready-to-AttackFleas and Ticks - Hiding, Lurking and Ready to Attack Where do fleas and ticks live?
Where do fleas and ticks live?

You may not see them, but they're there.

Fleas and ticks can be nestled in hiding places inside and out without you ever knowing it. See below for some of their more common hideouts:

On other pets and animals

Around shrubbery and bushes in your backyard where other infested animals frequent

In addition, developing stages of fleas may be lurking out of sight:

In carpets, floors and sofas of your home

That's why you need flea & tick protection like FRONTLINE brand products that can attack fleas and ticks on your pet. Anything less just won't do.

Flea bites can lead to diseases.

These nibbles start out as a simple itch but can lead to a wide range of diseases or other parasites, including:

Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD)

Anemia

Tapeworm

Rickettsiosis

Getting out of the car and moving is essential to keep your trip running smoothly. Depending on your travel companions and your pets, you may stop as frequently as every 2-hours, or if it works for all the travelers, every 4-hours for a 15- to 30-minute break for leg stretching and bathroom breaks. Try and keep your dog's ravel feeding and walking schedule close to what they're acclimated to at home to keep things moving smoothly.
http://www.dogfooddirect.com/DogFoodDirect-com-Blog/Is-kneading-normal-for-catsIs kneading normal for cats?Does your cat or kitten "make biscuits" knead or tread? It's perfectly normal! 2019-02-20T05:13:00-06:002019-02-18T12:29:02-06:00Dogfooddirect.comhttp://www.dogfooddirect.cominfo@dogfooddirect.comDogfooddirect.comhttp://www.dogfooddirect.cominfo@dogfooddirect.com
Is Kneading Normal for Cats?

Kneading is normal, and your cat learned this at a very young age. When newborn kittens nurse, they rhythmically press their paws against their mother's chest to help stimulate milk flow and move fur out of the way. Many cats keep this up well after they've been weaned, transferring the behavior to other soft surfaces life blankets, pillows and even their people.

Kneading indicates relaxed contentment. Have you noticed when cats paw at a blanket or other soft item, they also purr intensely? This behavior mimics the kneading (treading) motion they once associated with food arriving in a warm, comforting fashion. When your cat decides your lap is a suitable location, you may notice your cat kneading on your body. Think of that as a cat compliment.

Most of us are probably able to give one pill, but what if your dog needs multiple pills every day for two weeks? Would you be able to do that without causing stress for you and your dog?

Giving dogs pills can be challenging, and some dogs have made pill refusal an art form. Here are some tips to help you medicate your dog effortlessly with the least amount of stress possible.

Mix the medication in with your dog's food. Verify that the medicine is okay to be broken, split or chewed before using this method, and if it's okay, this may resolve any of your problems. Mixing medications in with food is an easy way to get dogs to take their meds. Most dogs will happily eat canned foods or home cooked meats, especially if you usually feed kibble. If you have multiple dogs, you may want to feed the dog that needs the medication separately, so the right dog is getting the drug.

If you have a picky dog, the hide it in the food method may not work. Some medications smell and taste awful, and dogs may refuse those unless you administer them more creatively.

Play a Game of Keep Away. Start by putting the pill into a tasty morsel like chicken, hot dog pieces, sliced deli meat, then set that piece aside. Now give your dog a treat with nothing inside. The next treat still has no medicine inside. Next, take the treat surrounded pill and put it next to your dog's nose but don't let him eat it. Pull the treat away to pique his interest and then move it back toward your dog's nose and mouth again and again, quickly pull it away. On the third time moving the treat toward your dog's mouth, let him eat the treat. Follow up with a fourth treat with no pill. The keep away method of medicating dogs works well for most dogs and medicines and makes the entire process fun for your dog.

Probably not.

Cats don't need milk in their diets after weaning, typically at 6 to 8 weeks old. Your feline friend may love milk, but that doesn't mean you should keep pouring milk into your cat's bowl.

While nursing, a young feline produces an enzyme, called lactase, that helps break down the sugar (lactose) in its mother's milk. As kittens grow up and no longer need mother's milk, lactase generation slows and eventually goes away completely. Without the lactase enzyme, the large molecules of lactose go through the GI tract undigested, drawing far too much moisture. What does that mean? Too much moisture in the lactose-intolerant cat will give your companion diarrhea. Be aware that cow's milk is nutritionally different than cat's milk, and that makes it hard for cats of any age to digest.

What's going on! Your dog probably has a temporary — and harmless — case of "winter nose," or, as it's often called, "snow nose." Sometimes, when the temperature drops and seasons change, an enzyme called tyrosinase which makes melanin also drops. When this happens, it will cause a dark nose to lighten or even become speckled with pink.

Some breeds are more prone to snow nose (aka nasal depigmentation) like Siberian huskies, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Labrador retrievers, and Golden retrievers are the most common breeds to have this cosmetic condition, that poses no medical threat.

Sometimes an injury or sunburn could turn your dog's nose lighter, but you would notice blistering from sunburn or some evidence of an injury if that were the case well before the color changed.

In some unusual cases, changes in pigment could indicate the autoimmune disease, vitiligo. If you have questioned whether your dog has snow nose or vitiligo, make an appointment to see your veterinarian.

With your dog's nose color change, and taking the winter season into account, your dog's nose should return to normal color once the warm weather returns.

Head up, shoulders back, and your dog is walking with you. Encourage your dog to walk by your side, and if your dog pulls ahead, encourage him to return to your side with a yummy treat and praise.

Practice leash walking lessons. Choosing the right leash for your dog will make walking easier and finding one that you're comfortable holding will make it good for you too. A six-foot leash is a good length for walking your dog, and remember to keep moving so your dog doesn't get distracted. The leash is to communicate and practicing to have a loose leash will make your walks more fun. Practice polite leash walking and toss in some short training sessions on the trails too. Remember frequent, short sessions with low stress are best. Again, reward your dog with treats and praise when he stays by your side.

Bring supplies. Carry along poop bags for cleaning up after your dog. Bring along water for you and your dog. Dogs can drink water by lapping it from your cupped hands, or you can carry a collapsible water bowl, and some dogs like drinking from your water bottle. Remember to bring bite-sized treats for rewarding good behavior or because you have a good dog!

Variety is the spice of life. Make your walks more fun by going to new locations or taking different routes. You could set a goal to walk in each park in your community and once those are done start walking in other cities. If your dog is comfortable with other dogs, you could set up a walking group to explore new locations.

Know how far to go. How much walking is the right amount for your dog? Like so many things, it depends. Consider are your dog’s size and how long his legs are, the breed, age, overall health and where you are walking. Keep an eye on your dog, and if they're slowing down or panting, you've probably gone far enough.

Most of all, enjoy your walk, you’ll be glad you took the time!
http://www.dogfooddirect.com/DogFoodDirect-com-Blog/What-Dog-Owners-Need-to-Know-About-the-FDA-s-Grain-Free-Diet-Alert What Dog Owners Need to Know About the FDA's Grain-Free Diet AlertThe FDA launched an investigation into potential links between canine heart disease and grain-free...2018-10-29T15:07:00-05:002018-10-29T15:26:30-05:00Dogfooddirect.comhttp://www.dogfooddirect.cominfo@dogfooddirect.comDogfooddirect.comhttp://www.dogfooddirect.cominfo@dogfooddirect.com
The FDA launched an investigation into potential links between canine heart disease and grain-free diets.

What is the FDA Investigating? Our dog's health is important to us, and we all know a good diet may have a positive impact on our dog's overall health and well-being. Dr. Jerry Klein, the Chief Veterinary Officer of the AKC, shared his thoughts on the investigation into grain free dog foods.

“The FDA is investigating a potential dietary link between canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and dogs eating certain grain-free pet foods. The foods of concern are those containing legumes such as peas or lentils, other legume seeds, or potatoes listed as primary ingredients. The FDA began investigating this matter after it received reports of DCM in dogs that had been eating these diets for a period of months to years. DCM itself is not considered rare in dogs, but these reports are unusual because the disease occurred in breeds of dogs not typically prone to the disease.”

What is Dilated Cardiomyopathy? Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a canine heart disease that affects the heart muscle. Dogs with DCM have hearts that have a decreased ability to pump blood, which may result in congestive heart failure.

Some large and giant breeds have a predisposition to DCM. These breeds include Doberman Pinschers, Great Danes, Newfoundlands, Irish Wolfhounds, and Saint Bernards. While DCM is less common in medium and small breeds, English and American Cocker Spaniels are also predisposed to this condition.

When early reports from the veterinary cardiology community indicated that recent, atypical cases in breeds like Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Whippets, Bulldogs, and Shih Tzus all consistently ate grain alternatives in their diets, the FDA took notice.

Should you be Concerned About Grain-Free Diets? According to Dr. Klein, “At this time, there is no proof that these ingredients are the cause of DCM in a broader range of dogs, but dog owners should be aware of this alert from the FDA. The FDA continues to work with veterinary cardiologists and veterinary nutritionists to better understand the effect, if any, of grain-free diets on dogs.”

While the Internet has some helpful information, it's probably best to start researching your dog's dietary health with your veterinarian. From there, you may seek a certified animal nutritionist and then follow up by doing research on the Internet. Weigh the pros and cons of your dog’s diet and if necessary monitor your dog for signs of DCM.

It's poop! If you want a fancier, more scientific term, it's called coprophagia. This is a relatively common habit with dogs and especially with puppies. In addition to being gross, fecal consumption can also introduce some vicious internal parasites into your hapless dog’s body.

Why Do Dogs Eat Poop?

The most likely scenario is that the dogs are going through an oral phase and are eating anything unusual, including poop. Many dogs will grow out of this habit, but some don't. Poop likely has nutritional value remaining, and dogs are by nature "opportunitivores" or scavengers and will eat anything that's handy.

"Kitty Crunchies" is a favorite "treat" for many dogs, and are easily found in your cat's litter box. Remember, almost any dog will eat cat poop if given the right circumstances and opportunity. Keep your dog away from cat feces because they will be exposed to Toxoplasma gondii, an organism that causes nerve and muscle damage. Puttin the litter box in a location, the cat, is able to get to, but the dog isn't is a good solution. Functional areas include behind a door or baby gate, and be sure to clean the litter box frequently to avoid temptation.

There have been cases where coprophagia is caused by medical reasons like exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, pancreatitis, certain malabsorption syndromes, infections, and even overfeeding a high-fat diet have all been contributors.

How to Manage Coprophagia - Unfortunately, once dogs acquire this habit, it's difficult to stop. The best way to end the practice is to take systematic steps.

Go with your dog into the yard for exercise and bathroom breaks. Clean up poop immediately to prevent a mistake. Teaching your dog to poop in one location helps with managing coprophagia.

Use products that discourage dogs from eating their own feces. We offer Four Paws® Potty Mouth®, a chewable tablet specially formulated to keep dogs from eating their own feces. Other products are made to sprinkle on your dog's food too.

Teach your dog the "leave it" command. This will help prevent any grabbing a poop snack while you’re out walking. Keep him on a leash. Dogs can be quick, though, so you might consider using a basket muzzle while out walking with him.

Split your dog's daily meals into more frequent (but smaller) portions so he won’t feel so hungry and ready to gobble anything. Feed the best food you can to make sure that he’s getting all the nutrients he needs.

Berating your dog for eating feces has no favorable impact except to hurt your dog's feelings.

http://www.dogfooddirect.com/DogFoodDirect-com-Blog/Heartland-Select-Grain-Free-Dog-Food-Bison-Chicken-Menhaden-Fish-Meal-ProteinHeartland Select Grain Free Dog Food Bison,Chicken & Menhaden Fish Meal ProteinHeartland Select Grain Free Dog Food Bison,Chicken & Menhaden Fish Meal ProteinGrain Free | Potato...2018-10-08T11:51:00-05:002018-10-08T12:26:28-05:00Dogfooddirect.comhttp://www.dogfooddirect.cominfo@dogfooddirect.comDogfooddirect.comhttp://www.dogfooddirect.cominfo@dogfooddirect.com

Heartland Select Grain Free Dog Food Bison,Chicken & Menhaden Fish Meal Protein

Grain Free | Potato Free

Our revolutionary supplement system, Good 4 Life, includes 4 key ingredients. However, don't expect this task to be easy!

Cats are highly independent creatures. Therefore, you can`t train your cat the same way you might train your dog. This is going to be a bit tricky.

No matter whether you`re going to train a new kitten or older cat, you can influence their behavior, but only if you`re consistent and gentle.

First of all, YOU have to learn some patience to get the desired result. But, of course, training a cat requires not only patience but also a lot of practice, praise, and rewards.

What Can You Train a Cat to Do?

A cat is a very intelligent animal, and actually, you can teach your four-legged friend just as many tricks as you want. Before you start training, you should determine what you`d like she to learn to do.

The most common commands and behavioral actions include:

Litter box training

House training

Calm traveling

Playing habits (how to play with toys, you and other animals)

Interacting habits (how to interact with you, other people and other pets)

Although, you can teach your furry friend any command or behavioral action you need. Be sure your cat is very clever! Even if you want to teach her to swim, you can easily do that. Can cats swim? Of course, YES! But HOW? They absolutely hate water… It's actually simple because they as well as many other animals have some instinct how to behave in water and this instinct for swimming helps them learn to swim if necessary.

Train your cat if you want to make your well-being more comfortable. Don`t worry! You can do that!

What Do You Need to Train Your Cat?

Keep each training session short: Your kitty`s attention span is shorter than yours; therefore, you should take this fact into account when planning your training program. So you can`t also expect your cat to remain interested every time you want to train her.

Practice one lesson at a time: It's better to start small! Don't rush and don't try to teach your cat everything at once. To achieve success, your cat has to master the commands or actions gradually. Only when your favorite has learned whatever you're working on, you can go to the next command or action.

Engage other people: If you want your kitty to be social, you should involve other people in the training process. You can engage your friends or family members to socialize your four-legged friend and make her more petting.

Provide a reward system: If you reward and praise your cat for a well-done job (or well-practiced command or action), in such a way you can enhance the behavior you want. Don't try to raise your voice because this will only stress both of you. Your kind and upbeat voice and some small kibbles of her favorite cat food can do wonders.

Training your cat can be a fun experience for you as well as for your pet. Just remember to be more patient and positive during this process, and the result will be not long in coming!

--

Linda Matthews is editor of catspurfection.com Animals have always been a passion of hers.
